A moment frame is a specific type of construction material used in rigid connections between its component members.
This configuration can resist the lateral and overturning forces, due to the bending moments and sheer energy required in its members and joints.
Therefore in seismic design, moment hardness and strength depends on the stiffness and power of the members.
Introduction to moment frame:
A basic structure in engineering is a two-dimensional frame, interconnected members, they are not substantially straight and probably join along their length.
In constructions, moment frames arise in two orthogonal directions, usually joined together to form a three-dimensional structure of columns and beams.
Moment frames are extra versatile than other frameworks similar to the shear wall, they permit significant movements throughout an earthquake.
They are designed to carry vertical and horizontal loads in a uniform plane & offer resistance to horizontal loads from the structure.
Non-flexible components attached to the body and cladding should be designed to overcome damage to the new movement.
Types of Moment Frames:
Steel moment frames:
It is a series of columns and beams, where connections are constructed using a combination of welding and bolts.
Concrete moment frames:
Reinforced concrete unique moment frames are made of the beam, column, and beam-column joints.
The frames are proportional and detailed to resist flexible, axial, shearing actions.
Simpson moment frames:
The steel frame is covered with wood studs to make it easy to melt into the rest of the structure.
Wood moment frames:
The lateral resistance of this structure is a combination of wooden moment frames action due to the knee braces at the post/beam connection.

Conclusion:
The moment frame effectively controls the horizontal displacement in the seismic design criteria, it resists the gravity and lateral loads in bending and compression.
